The advisory committee for the Aviation Maintenance, Avionics, and Aircraft Structural Technology programs at South Georgia Technical College held its Fall Semester advisory meeting in the Griffin Bell Aerospace Technology Center on the Americus campus recently. Representatives from businesses in the aviation industry comprise the advisory committee and assist SGTC faculty and staff in the continued development of the college’s aviation program.
Advisory committee members present at the meeting were: Troy Payne, Stephen Olas, Alan Lanz, and Lee Battista of Delta; Eric Rojek of Thrush Aircraft; and Patrick Humphrey of Souther Field Aviation.
South Georgia Technical College aviation maintenance instructors Victoria Herron, David Grant, Charles Christmas, and Paul Pearson along with aircraft structural instructor Jason Wisham provided the committee with updates and information about program changes, enrollment, community activities, and student news.
The general purpose of the advisory committees is to advise and assist South Georgia Technical College in training students to better serve the needs of business and industry. Experts in program-specific fields keep SGTC program personnel abreast of changing conditions and technology in the workplace. This, in turn, helps the college ensure students are fully prepared to enter the workforce upon graduation.
