Federal Pell Grant
Federal Pell Grants are based on financial need which is determined by the student and parents completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. This application is required annually (July 1 to June 30) to determine eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant. Pell Grant awards range from $300 to a maximum of $3248.00 per semester for 2021-2022. The amount awarded depends upon the student’s financial need index, combined with the number of credit hours taken.
To receive the Pell Grant, the student must be enrolled in a Pell eligible program of study and be accepted as either a Provisional or Regular admit. Pell Grants are not available to anyone who has received a bachelor’s degree or higher or owes a refund to the Federal Pell Grant or any aid program or is in default of any form of Student Loan. Also, you may not be eligible for Federal Aid if you have not received your High School Diploma or GED.

State revenues provide funding for this program. The award amount received by eligible students and the total amount of funds appropriated for the program is established each year by the Georgia General Assembly during the prior legislative session and is subject to change during the Award Year. Currently (2021-22 Aid Year) Dual Enrollment pays 100% of the standard tuition rate ($100.00/credit hour) up to a maximum of 15 credit hours per term. Books are provided at no cost to the student, but the eligible institution can charge the student for course related fees or supplies required for program participation. In the event that a student loses or damages a textbook that has been provided, the College may charge the student up to $75.00 to replace the damaged book. Credits taken under the Dual Enrollment program do NOT count against a student’s lifetime HOPE cap.
