Every gift matters.

You can be a part of South Georgia Tech’s continued growth by making a gift to the South Georgia Technical College Foundation. Whether you give to scholarships, the annual fund drive, a specific academic program or favorite project, you can be assured your gift matters and will help build a better South Georgia Technical College while assisting students toward their career goals.

There are many ways to invest in South Georgia Technical College through the Foundation.

Winning awards

Gifts of Cash

The advantage of cash gifts is that actual out-of-pocket cost is less than the dollar amount of the gift because of the allowable income tax deduction.

Gifts of Property

Gifts of non-cash property such as securities or real estate may provide an ideal way to make a contribution. If property has increased in value, a donation may entitle individuals to avoid paying gains. If the property has decreased in value, consider selling that property first and then contributing the proceeds. This allows individuals to receive the deduction for both the capital loss and the charitable gift.

Employer Matching Gifts

An employer matching program can allow individuals to double a gift. Check with your human resources office for more information.

Future Gifts

Gifts in a Will

The South Georgia Technical College Foundation can be named as a recipient of a planned gift in a will. The will gift can include cash, securities and personal property; a percentage of an estate; or the residue of estate property remaining after other bequests have been fulfilled.

Gifts of Life Insurance

Life insurance provides an effective way to benefit SGTC because it will provide South Georgia Technical College with a substantial deferred gift while individuals pay relatively modest premium payments.

Fundraising

The SGTC Foundation raises money in three primary ways:

1. TechForce

TechForce is an annual campaign through which contributors make yearly investments. Funds raised by this drive allow SGTC to take advantage of matching grant opportunities provided by state and federal grants or by the Technical College System of Georgia. Funds raised by the SGTC foundation may be matched dollar-for-dollar for special purposes.

2. Identified Need Proposals/Grants

The South Georgia Technical College Resource Development Office works closely with the Foundation to submit grant proposals to assist with scholarships, equipment, and building renovations.

3. Major Gift Solicitations

These solicitations are often but not always restricted to a specific need identified by the college, business partners or the Board of Trustees. These contributions are normally made through multi-year pledges.

Scholarships - All about students:

A decision to establish a new scholarship or contribute to an existing scholarship is one of the more personal ways to give to the South Georgia Technical College Foundation.

A scholarship directly impacts students and can be established for financial need, merit or other purposes. A scholarship gift is an excellent way to relieve some of the burden of a student’s educational expenses while rewarding hard work and academic excellence. Gifts of any size can be directed toward support of existing scholarships. For a PDF listing of scholarships click here. New scholarships may be established by a donor or designated to a special academic program.

Annual Scholarship:

  • Awarded yearly
  • $250 minimum gift. Renewed each year at donor’s discretion

Endowed Scholarship:

  • $5,000 minimum gift required.
  • Scholarships are awarded each year from the endowment fund in perpetuity.
