Courtney Seay of Albany was presented with the Lou Crouch Law Enforcement Scholarship at the completion of the South Georgia Technical College Law Enforcement Academy Class 20 – 02 recently.  Seay earned her Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification from the South Georgia Technical College Law Enforcement Academy and has been hired by the Americus Police Department.

“This scholarship will be very beneficial in helping me to continue my educational and career goals.  I would like to thank Lou Crouch for giving me this opportunity.  I have always strived to be self-sufficient and find creative ways to fund my education.  I realize that continuing my education is important because it will help me become a better officer and a more productive citizen in my community,” said Seay, when she received the scholarship and certificate.

Lou Crouch of Bryon endowed his first scholarship at South Georgia Technical College in January 2013 to assist students who enrolled in the South Georgia Technical College Law Enforcement Academy and with Seay Crouch has provided scholarships for 21 students so far.

South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford congratulated Seay on receiving the Lou Crouch scholarship and wished her the best as she starts her career as a member of the Americus Police Department.  “I am very proud of you and I am proud of Lou Crouch and the other individuals who have supported the SGTC Law Enforcement Academy through individual scholarships,” said President Watford.

Seay shared that obtaining her POST certification has helped her grow as an individual and she hopes that she can motivate those around her to better themselves.  “Furthering my education will allow me to think more critically in my role as a law enforcement officer now and later as I am able to advance and accept new challenges in this field.”

“This scholarship is a tremendous help to the young men and women who are training to become public servants and work as law enforcement officers here in Georgia,” said SGTC Foundation Executive Director Su Ann Bird. “This scholarship is not only helping our students but it is making communities safer.  We appreciate Lou Crouch’s involvement and financial support of this program and our students.”
