D.W. Persall joins South Georgia Tech Crisp County Center as Media, Library Services Specialist

Dorris William (D.W.) Persall of Cordele has been hired as the full-time Media & Library Services’ Specialist for the South Georgia Technical College Crisp County Center in Cordele. He will report to Julie Partain, Dean of Enrollment Management and Vice President of Academic Affairs David Kuipers.

   As the Media & Library Services’ Specialist on the Crisp County Center campus, D.W. Persall will provide support and setup of audio/visual equipment within classrooms and the auditorium. He will provide support to users of audio/visual equipment and assist students with email password resets and assessing students accounts (Banner Web & Blackboard). This position will also serve as a permanent back up to the front desk assistant and will provide administrative assistance to administrators, faculty, students, and the public.

   Persall will also assist with the library program which includes a media center. He will develop library and information resource goals and objectives, provide library instruction to students in classes and one-on-one; assess and create reports related to library functions, work to coordinate media center materials with training programs; plan, organize and supervise the unit’s work to support instruction and meet the technical college objectives; direct and review work assignments; select, order, process and maintain up-to-date- library resource collections.

   D.W. Persall is a graduate of South Georgia Technical College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronic Technology as well as a double major in Network Specialist and Computer Support. He also has a Business Technology Associate of Applied Science degree. Persall has been working at South Georgia Technical College on a part-time basis as a tutor with the campus information technology department. He also served as an adjunct Electronic Technology instructor and Computer Concepts instructor.

   As a student at SGTC, Persall served as the President of the National Technical Honor Society and Phi Beta Lambda and served as the state NTHS Vice-President. He was also a member of the Student Government Association and SkillsUSA organizations.
