The South Georgia Technical College Jets rolled to an impressive 111-63 victory over Action Sports Academy recently to move to 5 – 4 on the season.

Head coach Travis Garrett and the Jets allowed Action Sports Academy to put the first few points on the scoreboard but within several minutes the Jets roared back to take the lead and never looked back. The Jets were up 45 – 27 at the end of the first half and then pulled ahead by as many as 49 points in the second half before capturing the 111-63 victory. This is the second time this season that the Jets have posted 100 points or more. They took a 102 – 77 win over New Rock Prep in November and then put together a strong second half against Action Sports Academy to wind up with 111 total points on the night.

As one might imagine, the double-digit scoring for the Jets was spread out. Sophomore Justin Johnson led the team in scoring with a total of 24 points. He had 20 of those in the first half. He was 10 of 14 from the field, one of two from the three-point line and perfect from the foul line.

Freshman Austin Hadden came off the bench to contribute 21 points. Only six of his points were scored in the first half, but he was five of seven from the field and three for three from the three-point line. He also had one of four free-throws.

Sophomore point guard Jaylen McKinney had 14 points and 6’9” freshman forward Emmanuel Nwaneri from Nigeria closed out the double-digit scoring with 12 points. Sophomore guard Toriano Lewis tossed in eight points, sophomore Brice Paster and freshman Jordan Stephens both added seven and then Denari Garrett scored five points.

Closing out the scoring for the Jets was: Jalen Reynolds, 4; Tabais Long, 3; Jarius Carroll and Jonathan Kanyanga with 2; and Lamont Sanders and D.J. Fisher with one point each.

The Jets will not open their conference season until January but right now they are tied for sixth place in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Conference with Central Georgia Technical College and Georgia Highlands with identical 5 – 4 records.

South Georgia State College is currently in first place with an 8 – 0 season, Andrew College is ranked second at 7 – 2, East Georgia is in third place at 3 – 1 followed by Albany Tech with a 7 – 3 record. Southern Crescent Tech is currently in fifth place at 6 – 4. Gordon College is in last place at 1 – 3 overall.

The Jets will travel to Marianna, FL on Friday, December 6th to participate in the Chipola College Classic. They open up against Chipola College at 8 p.m. Friday and then face Gulf Coast College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
