Lady Jets capture sixth straight victory

Swainsboro, GA – The nationally ranked South Georgia Technical College Lady Jets captured their sixth consecutive victory recently when they traveled to East Georgia State College in Swainsboro and secured an 83 – 51 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) victory.

   The win propelled the top-ranked GCAA squad and 16th NJCAA nationally ranked Lady Jets to 12 – 0 in the conference and 22 – 2.  The Lady Jets went up 20 – 16 at the end of the first quarter and then stretched that lead to 43 – 32 at the half.  In the second half, the Lady Jets took charge offensively and defensively to click the 83 – 51 victory.

   Four members of the Lady Jets reached double-figures in that game and freshman center Femme Sikuzani secured a double-double.  Sophomore guard Shamari Tyson led the team in scoring with 21 points, six assists, six steals, and five rebounds.  Sophomore forward Yasriyyah Wazeerud-din followed with 15 points, three steals, three assists and four rebounds.

   Freshman center Femme Sikuzani was close behind with 14 points.  She also have a total of 13 rebounds to give her a double-double on the night.  She also had two blocks, an assist, and one steal.  Sophomore Niya Goudelock was the other Lady Jet in double figures and she wound up with 13 points, three assists, three steals and four rebounds. 

   Anna McKendree and Moe Shida both contributed eight points to the win and then Flore Ngasamputu, and Hope Butera closed out the scoring with two points each.

   The Lady Jets will be looking for their seventh straight win on Saturday when they host East Georgia State College again.  The Lady Jets open at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 1st and the Jets will follow at 3 p.m. against East Georgia in the second half of the double-header in the Hangar on the Americus campus.
