Remote registration for the eight-week summer semester at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) which begins May 27th is open. New students can assess the orientation online on the South Georgia Technical College website at /admissions/new-student-orientation/, announced President Dr. John Watford.
South Georgia Technical College is still accepting application from new students for the eight-week summer mini-semester. The new student application fee and testing requirements have been waived for summer semester. Requirements for submitting an official transcript before being accepted is also currently waived during the COVID19 pandemic. South Georgia Technical College also provides the use of textbooks at no cost to students.
New students can apply to South Georgia Technical College online by visiting this link: /admissions/how-to-apply/. SGTC Admissions Director Whitney Crisp and Admissions Assistant Jasmine Mercer will guide students step by step through the process in an online admissions video.
Current students who would like to register for summer semester should contact their instructors by email or phone and ask them to enroll them in classes.
“This is an awesome opportunity for individuals to enroll in college classes,” said South Georgia Tech President John Watford. “Summer semester is only eight weeks long, South Georgia Technical College provides students the use of text books at no cost, and the application fee and placement exam requirement has been waived. There has never been a better time to enroll. Many students will be eligible for the HOPE Grant, HOPE Scholarship, or Federal financial aid and will be able to attend at no personal cost.”
Over 450 courses will be offered online or in a distance learning option for the eight-week summer semester. South Georgia Technical College is also offering 18 general core courses including English, Literature, College Algebra, Economics, Art and Music Appreciation, Political Science, and History classes.
The college offers a number of online services including academic counseling and tutoring that will help students navigate summer semester. The financial aid application can be completed online, but assistance is only an email or phone call away for students with questions. Online video presentations are available for students who need assistance transitioning to online learning.
