Over 200 attend job fair at South Georgia Technical College Crisp County Center

CORDELE, GA – Well over 200 individuals attended the job fair held at South Georgia Technical College’s Crisp County Center recently. Twenty local employers were on hand looking for specific needs within their businesses and industries.

Companies in attendance were seeking to fill a range of jobs including Crew Leader, Formulator CNA, PCA, LPN Computer/IT, Care Specialist, Customer Service, Assembly Operator, Forklift Operator, Industrial Maintenance Tech, CNC Operator, CDL, Welder, Correctional Officer Controller, Telecommunications Engineer, and more. Interviews were conducted on site.

  Employers who participated included: Aaron Rents, Action Resources, ADM Animal Nutrition, Ambassador Personnel, Big Tex Trailers, Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Crisp Regional Health System, Crossview Care Center, Dooly State Prison, Easterseals Southern GA, Inc., Flex-Tec, Inc., GA Dept. of Public Safety, Glen Eagle Healthcare, Goldens’ Foundry and Machine Co., Harris Manufacturing, Helena Industries, Ingo Money, Innovative Senior Solutions, Jay and Jay Healthcare Agency, Inc., Norbord, PharmaCentra and Concentra Solutions, Pineland Telephone Cooperative, Pioneer Health of Central GA ResCare, SGTC Adult Education/GED, SGTC Career Services, Striplings, Sumter Co. Fire Department, SW GA United, Tidewater Equipment Co., Tyson Foods, Waffle House and WorthFab.

   The event was sponsored by South Georgia Technical College, Georgia Department of Labor, Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce, and Cordele-Crisp County Industrial Development Council.

   Individuals who would like to hone their job skills or reenter the workforce but need additional training, can apply to attend South Georgia Technical College’s mini-mester which begins October 7th. Students receive 16-weeks of credit for only eight weeks of classes.

   “This is a great opportunity for individuals who are thinking about going back to college or entering college for the first time,” said South Georgia Technical College Vice President of Academic Affairs David Kuipers. Financial aid including the HOPE Grant and HOPE Career Grants are available to individuals to make college classes almost tuition free.
