Pamela Jordan of Vienna recently earned recognition as South Georgia Technical College’s (SGTC) overall Student of Excellence for October. Jordan studies Cosmetology and was nominated by her instructor, Dorothea Lusane-McKenzie.
Each month, students from select divisions are nominated for the Student of Excellence award by their instructors. The Student of Excellence is chosen based on a number of criteria, including grades, work ethics, participation in clubs and organizations, and amount of program completion.
As the winner, Jordan was awarded a plaque of recognition, a personal letter of recommendation from SGTC President Dr. John Watford and a $50 check for her accomplishments. Additionally, her name will be displayed on SGTC’s digital marquee as well as inscribed on a plaque in Hicks Hall among previous Student of Excellence winners.
“Since day one, Pamela has always had an amazing attitude,” Lusane-McKenize said of Jordan in her nominating remarks. “She’s eager to learn, disciplined, and responsible. She completes all her work with a smile.”
Upon receiving the award, Jordan remarked, “I’m very honored to be nominated by such a phenomenal instructor. I really want to thank Ms. McKenzie for everything she’s done to help me.”
