Sarah Teal of Americus has joined South Georgia Technical College as the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Administrative Assistant on the Americus Campus, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford. She will report to WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai and SGTC Vice President Campus Operations, WIOA, and Adult Education Karen Werling.
Teal graduated Cum Laude from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She also earned her Peer Specialist Certification in March 2015 and Whole Health Action Management Certification in May 2017 from the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network in Atlanta.
Prior to joining South Georgia Technical College, Teal worked as a Certified Peer Specialist with Whole Health Certification at Perry Wellness Center in Americus for six years. She also served as a full-time caregiver to her father who had Alzheimer’s as well as a media clerk at Macon County Middle School.
In addition to her professional career, Teal also served as a volunteer Sunday School teacher at Whitewater Baptist Church in Oglethorpe and a volunteer Assistant Leader of AWANA Cubbies at Whitewater. She also volunteered at Friendship Camp in Americus and with the Montezuma Public Library in Montezuma.
As the WIOA Administrative Assistant at South Georgia Technical College, Teal will provide advanced technical-level support and office administration. She will assist upper level management in organizing and executing routine activities and special projects; acts as liaison with outside organizations to gather or report program-related information, plan and coordinate meetings, conferences, seminars and travel calendars as well as greet visitors and or students to the WIOA office. She will provide secretarial and clerical duties for the administration and utilize a variety of software to produce documents, spreadsheets, visual aids, and promotional materials. She will be responsible for maintaining filing and record-keeping systems as well as other duties as assigned.
