The South Georgia Technical College Adult Education faculty and staff participated in a professional development training session recently with Susan Pittman of E-Learning Connections, Inc., in Brevard, NC.  Lillie Ann Winn, Dean of Adult Education at South Georgia Technical College, organized the professional development session.

Pittman is an experienced adult educator and nationally recognized trainer.  She specializes in providing professional development for teachers who work with Adult Basic Education and GED level students.  She is the CEO of E-Learning Connections, Inc., an educational consulting firm that she started in 2001.

She works collaboratively with the GED Testing Service® to design, develop, and deliver professional development with an emphasis on instructional strategies across content areas.  She also develops and co-facilitates the GED Testing Service’s Tuesday for Teachers webinars.

In addition to professional development, Pittman develops materials for the classroom, including lesson plans, curriculum frameworks, and resources guides.  She works with programs at the local, state, and national level to address the instructional needs of both adult basic and adult secondary teachers.  She has a passion for working with adult learners and is committed to providing local programs and educators with the resources that support student success.

Following the morning session with Pittman, the SGTC Adult Education faculty and staff participated in a virtual training session with Boardworks Education.  Boardworks Education is a library of interactive resources (interactive PowerPoints) that can be customized to fit into adult education classrooms and online lessons.
