The SGTC students and faculty and staff members were provided a tour of the Thrush Aircraft manufacturing facilty by Chief Executive Officer Mark McDonald.  Thrush is one of only two agriculture aircraft manufacturers in the world.

Shown above is the Thrush manufacturing facility.

Thrush is currently producing four aircrafts per month, costs ranging from $500,000 up to $1 Million per aircraft.  The company has a well-rounded management team, a solid product line, and a wealth of experience in all areas of manufacturing and support.  Thrush ships aircraft to eighty countries, with 80% percent of the manufactured aircraft going overseas.

SGTC AST Instructor Wisham, who is always recruiting for his academic program, spent six years working at Thrush.  He was extremely proud to share with the new owner, that numerous AST graduates have gotten their careers started at Thrush.

Currently, Thrush has over 200 employees and plans to hire an additional 50 new people over the next year.  A prospective employee can expect to earn $17 per hour up to $36 per hour.

McDonald shared with the group the importance of good work ethics, good character, and teamwork.  Students Shabrya Jefferson and Cameron Hillsman were actively engaged throughout the tour, and asked questions.

Both students are scheduled to graduate from the AST Program this December, and hope to begin their career with Thrush in the new year.  Currently there are employment opportunities at Thrush Aircraft for Air Craft Structural Technology graduates, painters, welders, Precision Machining and Manufacturing and Electrical Shop Technicians.
