SGTC Conducts “Welcome Back Wellness Week”

South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently completed a series of workshops on various aspects of wellness for students at the Crisp County Center in Cordele. Entitled “Welcome Back Wellness Week”, the program explored strategies for mental, physical, and financial wellness.

The first session focused on health and nutrition wellness. SGTC LPN and Medical Assisting students provided blood pressure and BMI checks and gave information on diabetes, high blood pressure, the benefits of good eating, and more.

Next was a program on financial wellness. Guest speaker William Redding educated students on credit essentials. Rickie Manning then gave a presentation on individual investment empowerment.

The following day, SGTC adjunct instructor and licensed psychologist Ashley Dukes delivered a presentation on mental health.

“Welcome Back Wellness Week” wrapped up with a session on physical and personal wellness. Caroline Clark, PT, DPT of ELITE Physical Therapy in Cordele, spoke to students about the importance of incorporating intentional movement into daily life. Hygiene and other aspects of personal wellness were also discussed.
