South Georgia Technical College Horticulture students and instructor Brandon Gross celebrated Earth Day by planting a tree on the SGTC Americus campus. World Earth Day is an annual event observed across the globe to demonstrate support for environmental protection.
Earth Day reminds the world about the importance of environment conservation and sustainability, encouraging individuals to come together and take action for a healthier planet and brighter future. It has been celebrated for over 50 years.
SGTC horticulture students Kyle Davis and Lisa Sellers assisted in planning a Japanese Maple tree, which is knows as Momiji in Japanese. This tree represents peace, balance, and serenity. The tree’s Japanese name, kito, translates to “a state of peace.”
