Thanks to new federal guidelines, prospective nursing students at South Georgia Technical College now have the opportunity to earn a Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) in practical nursing without taking core classes. The TCC program can be completed in just three semesters.
“This is a great opportunity for someone who dreams of being a nurse,” said SGTC Nursing Instructor Jennifer Childs. “They can now complete the program in just one year, and won’t have to stress over the core classes.”
Childs added that the new guidelines also benefit former nursing students who weren’t able to complete the program. “For those who would like to return to the program but would previously have had to retake a class like anatomy, now they won’t have to do that.”
Prospective students still must pass the TEAS exam and entry into the program is competitive with limited slots available.
South Georgia Technical College’s practical nursing program has produced many outstanding nurses, and last year, graduates from the program had a 100% NCLEX pass rate.
