SGTC Offers Students Instruction for Writing Stronger Resumes

Posted on

South Georgia Technical College Career Services recently hosted a resume-writing workshop for students at the college’s Crisp County Center in Cordele. Cynthia Carter, Director of Career Services, explained the value of a resume as well as how to write one that will be effective in the job search process.

“A resume is one of the first things a potential employer sees about a job seeker,” Carter said. “Use a combination of action words to highlight your experience and make your resume easier to read. A well-documented resume gives you an edge over other candidates.”

Carter encouraged students to keep their resumes short and direct, highlighting skills and experience relevant to the job they seek to secure.

With the current labor shortage, job seekers are at an advantage. Many businesses and industries are actively hiring, and a good resume could be the difference in landing an interview or not.

Career Services works closely with instructors to help ensure that South Georgia Technical College students are prepared to enter or re-enter the workforce upon graduation. To learn more about SGTC Career Services, contact Cynthia Carter at ccarter@southgatech.edu.
