Eighty South Georgia Technical College students from multiple academic programs recently participated in a workshop held by SGTC in partnership with the Mercer University Educational Opportunity Center (EOC). This initial engagement with PAWS (Post-Secondary Achievement Workshops) focused on personal financial literacy.
Valerie Hicks, Academic Advisor, Mercer EOC, facilitated the workshop. Charlene Pennymon, Vice President of Citizens Banks of Americus, also participated, offering information on credit to the students.
“Financial literacy starts with money experience and personal priorities,” stated Cynthia Carter, SGTC Director of Career Services. “SGTC students must begin to grasp career decisions they plan to make throughout their life. With Mercer EOC’s ongoing services, there will be a variety of workshops and presentations to meet our students’ needs.”
