SGTC Raises Funds for the Fight Against Breast Cancer

South Georgia Technical College recently held a “Penny War” on the Americus campus as a fundraiser to fight breast cancer. The Law Enforcement Academy won the friendly competition for the largest contribution.

In total, the effort netted nearly $200. Other programs that participated were cosmetology, criminal justice, culinary arts, electrical systems, medical assisting, and practical nursing.

All proceeds from the “Penny War” will be donated to the Oncology Department of Phoebe Sumter Hospital in Americus. Each October is designated as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and South Georgia Technical College is proud to support efforts to increase awareness and raise funds to aid in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
