SGTC’s Kari P. Bodrey promoted to Registrar position

South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford announced that Kari Bodrey, Admissions coordinator on the SGTC Crisp County Campus, has been promoted to Registrar for the college. She starts her new position immediately. She will be located on the Americus campus and will be reporting to South Georgia Technical College Vice President of Student Affairs Eulish Kinchens.

   Bodrey is a graduate of South Georgia Technical College with an associate of applied science degree in Computer Information Systems and a graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration – Management degree. She has been employed at South Georgia Technical College for the past 17 years.

   “I am very pleased to be able to fill this administrative position with an individual who has dedicated her career to helping students at South Georgia Technical College. Kari Bodrey is a great example of the type of dedicated, hardworking employees that we have at South Georgia Tech,” said President Dr. Watford. “I know that she has a heart and a passion for helping students. She will definitely continue to be an asset to the college, the students, and the faculty and staff in her new role. I wish her continued success with her new job duties.”

   Kari Bodrey enrolled as a student at South Georgia Technical College in 2001 and was hired in June 2002 as a Student Services Assistant on the Crisp County Center. She assisted the Admissions Director to ensure the admissions department operations were carried out in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures. She also utilized the Banner system to input student data and process student drop/add, withdrawal and registration forms. She also worked directly with students in situations dealing with admissions applications, required paperwork and testing.

   She was promoted to Admissions Coordinator on the Crisp County Center campus in 2007 and has been working in that role for the past 12 years. In addition to her admissions duties, she organized and implemented student activities and was responsible for student leadership development through campus events and community related projects. She also served as the advisor for the Crisp County Student Government Association and National Technical Honor Society.

   As Registrar, Bodrey will be responsible for maintaining student records and monitoring access for compliance with federal and state laws. She will also provide assistance in recruiting potential students, counseling students regarding transfers of credit and advance standing, planning and implementing graduation exercises, processing class grades, verifying completion of graduation requirements and be responsible for VA certification.

   “I am very grateful to Dr. Watford and South Georgia Technical College for this new opportunity,” said Bodrey. “I have enjoyed being a part of such a great team and I am pleased to be able to continue that relationship with the faculty, staff, and students in this new role. I appreciate everyone who has helped me over the past 17 years and I look forward to working with everyone in this new capacity.”

   Kari is married to John Bodrey and they have one daughter, Ally. They live in Cordele.

   South Georgia Technical College will post the job announcement for a new admissions coordinator for the Crisp County Center immediately.
