The South Georgia Technical College Adult Education Department is offering adult education and GED services in Macon County. A special open house has been set for Thursday, October 12th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Viola Bailey Building, 309 Spaulding Road, Montezuma, Georgia to showcase the new facilities and services. “We would like to invite everyone in Macon County to join us for this very important open house,” said South Georgia Technical College Dean of Adult Education Lillie Ann Winn. “This is a great opportunity to come out and meet the instructors and staff and learn more about the services that are being offered in Macon County now.” Winn, who lives in Macon County, was hired earlier this year as the Dean of Adult Education at South Georgia Technical College. She and her staff report to SGTC Vice President for Academic Affairs David Kuipers. “South Georgia Technical College has been selected as the Adult Education provider for Macon County as well as for Sumter, Crisp, Schley, Marion, Webster, and Taylor Counties,” said South Georgia Technical College Vice President for Academic Affairs David Kuipers. “This is the first year in many years that we have served the Macon County area and Mrs. Winn and her staff will do a great job providing adult literacy programs to the individuals who can benefit from these services. This new site is centrally located and is within walking distance for many of the students. We also hope to encourage individuals to sign up for our regular credit classes if they would like to continue their education or acquire the skills needed to enter the workforce,” added Kuipers. The SGTC Adult Education has adopted the theme, “The Tassel is worth the Hassle,” in an effort to encourage more individuals to earn their GED and then enroll in one of the over 200 associate degree, diploma, or technical certificate of credit classes that are available at South Georgia Technical College in Americus and Crisp County. South Georgia Technical College offers students the complete college experience with on-campus housing and nationally recognized intercollegiate athletics and student activities. South Georgia Technical College was recently selected as the 3rd best two-year college in the nation for college and affordability. It was also recognized as the best two-year college in Georgia for 2017 by two different organizations.
