South Georgia Tech students elected to state offices for 2017 – 2018

HELEN, GA - Four South Georgia Technical College students were selected by an external panel of judges to serve as officers for state student organizations during the Technical College System of Georgia State Student Organizations and Planning Committees retreat held recently at the Unicoi State Park and Lodge in Helen, GA. “This is a tremendous honor for South Georgia Technical College to have four outstanding students to represent our college as officers at the state level,” said South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford. “Congratulations to these students, the advisors, and each of the student clubs and organizations on both the Americus and Crisp County campuses.” Stephanie C. Tyson, a South Georgia Technical College Early Childhood Care and Education major from Americus, was elected to serve as Vice President for the Skills USA Georgia Postsecondary organization. Joshua Chappell, Christian Powell and Marie Rivera from the South Georgia Tech Crisp County Center were also elected to serve as state officers for the Georgia Student Government Association and the National Technical Honor Society. Marie Rivera, a Marketing Management major from Vienna, was elected secretary for the National Technical Honor Society, and Christian Powell, a Computer Information Systems major from Cordele, was selected to serve as the Reporter for that organization. Joshua Chappell, a Culinary Arts major from Cordele, will serve as the Historian/ Reporter for the Georgia Student Government Association.
