South Georgia Technical College celebrates Veterans and Veteran’s Day

South Georgia Technical College and the South Georgia Technical College Student Government Association paid tribute to the individuals who have served in the United States Armed Forces as part of its Veterans Day Celebration recently.

“Today on the 11th day of the 11th month is the day that we celebrate the sacrifice and commitment of our Veterans,” said South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford.  “Every time we come to work in the career of our choosing, go to services (or not) at our choices of places of worship, or simply voice an opinion without fear of persecution, we are celebrating the work of our Veterans.  Please take time to thank a Veteran for your freedoms and take a few moments to go see the display in the Odom Center Lobby where some of our SGTC Veterans or family members who are Veterans are on display.”

Dr. Watford also added “on behalf of all of the faculty, staff, and students at South Georgia Technical College, I would like to thank each of our veterans for their service to our country.  Today is a time to honor all of our service men and women including those who are currently serving as well as those who served in the past.  We appreciate your sacrifice and are pleased to honor you today.”

The South Georgia Technical College Student Government Association created a display in the Odom Center on the SGTC Americus campus displaying photos of Veterans working at or attending college at South Georgia Technical College.  Individuals were asked to submit photos of themselves or their family members.  The photos along with name and other information were included in the display and veterans were treated to candy and other goodies as part of the virtual recognition.
