The Taylor County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and other officials met on the campus of South Georgia Technical College recently. The officials had the opportunity to tour the college and learn more about the over 200 different associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit educational programs offered at SGTC.
South Georgia Technical College President Dr. John Watford welcomed the Taylor County officials to the campus and the Judge T.O. Marshall conference room in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on the Americus campus. The Taylor County Chamber Board held its regular February monthly meeting and enjoyed lunch prepared by SGTC’s Aramark cafeteria officials.
Casey Beane of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs was a special guest at the meeting and had the opportunity to share with the Taylor County Chamber of Commerce officials about how the Georgia Department of Community Affairs can work with their communities.
Following the meeting, South Georgia Technical College Vice President of Economic Development Wally Summers and SGTC Director of Business and Industry Services Paul Farr presented a tour of the campus that included the Pope Center, the Griffin Bell Aerospace Technology Center which houses the Aviation Maintenance and Avionics Technology programs as well as the Caterpillar Heavy Equipment Diesel Technology Center, the John Deere and Motorsports areas in the Energy and Transportation Center and other highlights on the campus.
