The Automotive Technology advisory committee at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently convened in the Morgan Transportation Building on the Americus campus to discuss program developments and industry trends. The advisory committee plays a key role in supporting continuous improvement of SGTC's Automotive Technology program.
Automotive Technology instructor Brandon Dean provided updates on program changes, enrollment, community involvement, and student achievements.
Committee members offered insights into curriculum enhancements, industry-specific training opportunities, advancements in automotive technology, and job or internship prospects for students. The group also shared information about salary expectations for graduates.
Attendees included David Miller and Jeremy Robinson from Miller Auto Parts; Henry L. Snipes from Lacy’s Paint and Body; Earl Snider from Snider Automotive; and John Beaver from Beaver Performance Racing. SGTC faculty members Starlyn Sampson (Auto Collision Repair), adjunct automotive instructor Jacob Smith, and Kevin Beaver (Motorsports Vehicle Technology). Academic Dean Dr. David Finley and WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai also attended.
SGTC’s Advisory committees are vital in helping instructors stay updated on workplace technologies and practices, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their careers upon graduation.
