Christopher Ballauer Head Men’s Basketball Coach
Chris Ballauer is entering his 12th season at South Georgia Technical College and his fourth year as the head coach of the Jets. He began his coaching career at the college as an assistant coach for the Lady Jets in 2013, contributing to their GCAA conference championship win streak. In 2014, Chris transitioned to the men’s program and has been an essential part of its success ever since.
Originally from Lawrenceville, Georgia, Chris graduated from Central Gwinnett High School before playing basketball for the Brunswick Junior College Mariners, where he was coached by GCAA Hall of Fame Coach Gerald Cox and Assistant Coach James Frey. He later had the opportunity to coach alongside these mentors for 14 years, during which their teams averaged 20 wins per season, capturing a conference championship and earning a spot in the national tournament in 2002.
In addition to his basketball responsibilities, Chris also teaches in the Sports and Fitness Management program. He resides in Americus with his wife, Ivy, and their three children: Hutch, Layla, and Lindi.
