The South Georgia Technical College Adult Education department has led the Technical College System of Georgia in Postsecondary Transition percentages for two consecutive years. The report was for the FY 24 and the FY25 years.

“This is extremely impressive and I am very proud of SGTC Dean of Adult Education Tracy Israel and her department,” said South Georgi Technical College President Dr. John Watford. “On behalf of the college, I would like to congratulate Tracy Israel and her great staff for their outstanding work in this area.”

The South Georgia Technical College adult education department served 282 students in the High School Equivalency, GED, or Adult Education classes and 34 of those students enrolled in the college to continue their education. That was a 12% transition rate for the FY24 year. The state average was only 3% and the next highest school had a 9% post-secondary transition rate.

In FY25, the SGTC Adult Education Department led the state again with a 13% transition rate. The state average in FY25 was 3% again and only one other college reached double digits and they had an 11% transition rate.

In the FY24 year, students much have exited the Adult Education program to be included in the report but in the FY25 year, any student enrolled in the Adult Education programs in a Technical College were included. Despite two different measures, the SGTC Adult Education department led the state in back-to-back years.
