Two SGTC Jets named among 2026 JUCO Top 100

Two members of the South Georgia Technical College 2025 – 2026 Jets men’s basketball team were listed in the initial JucoRecruiting.com Top 100 players Rankings for the 2026 JUCO Class. Sophomore center Matt Mbole from Cameroon, was listed as 11th in the nation and guard Jalexs Ewing from Augusta, was ranked 70th.

These rankings are based on a combination of production at the JUCO level and the player’s projected performance at the next level, amongst other things.

Mbole, 6’ 11, is the third leading scorer for the Jets this season with 179 points, but he is leading the team in blocked shots with 36 as well as leading the team in rebounds with 206. He has 76 offensive rebounds and 130 defensive rebounds in 18 games. He also has 13 assists and 14 steals.

As a freshman, Mbole scored 77 points for the Jets. He had 35 blocked shots and 111 rebounds, 44 offensive and 67 defensive. He also had four assists and seven steals.

Joining Mbole in the elite JUCO Top 100 listing was sophomore Jalexs Ewing. The 6’2 guard is the Jets leading scorer with 336 points in 17 games. He also has 94 rebounds, 32 assists and 10 steals for the Jets this season. He is a 52.9% shooter from the two-point range and hits 63.3% of his free throws. He is a 29% three-point shooter.

During the 2024 – 2025 season, Ewing scored 227 points during the conference games and had 10 blocked shots to go with 92 rebounds, 54 assists and 20 steals. He played in 16 of the Jets games as a freshman.

The Jets are currently in 3rd place in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 standings. They are 4 – 2 in the conference behind Central Georgia Tech (6-0) and South Georgia State College (4-1). The Jets have won their last four games and will host Gordon College in a GCAA conference game on Wednesday, February 4 at 7 p.m. in the Hangar.
