Shirley Trice, Director of Food Services at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), was recognized by Aramark in a surprise celebration for 40 years with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality in the John M. Pope Center on the Americus campus, recently.
Community leaders, family, friends, South Georgia Tech co-workers and Aramark officials all joined in to help surprise Shirley Trice with the celebration.
Trice works to make “every day count” at South Georgia Technical College. Not only is SGTC, Trice’s place of employment with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality, but it is also her alma mater. She earned two degrees here, one in Information and Office Technology and one in Accounting. Little did she know at the time that the college would become even more important to her in the future than she anticipated.
She and her team serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Friday and two meals, brunch and dinner, on Saturday and Sunday to the SGTC students and others. She and her staff also cater many other events in the Pope Center and around campus. In addition to working at SGTC, Trice also worked at GSW.
Trice says that the “work is hard and demanding but when people approach you during or after an event with complimentary words, it is very rewarding. When people show appreciation for a job she has poured herself into, it makes the hard work well worth it and she looks forward to the next event.
Aramark officials did a great job of surprising Trice and thanking her for her 40 years of service to Aramark Collegiate Hospitality.
