Jets, Lady Jets defeat Southern Union
The South Georgia Technical College Jets and Lady Jets traveled to Alabama earlier this week to capture wins against Southern Union State Community College. The Lady Jets opened with an 82-72 win in the first game and the Jets dominated in the second game to capture the 90 – 65 victory.
Andre Kennedy was selected as the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) Division I player of the week for his performance on the court. He averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Jets in two impressive wins.
With the win over Southern Union State Community College, the Jets moved to 5 – 3 on the season. The Jets were up 42 – 33 at the end of the first half and then outscored Southern Union 48 – 32 to easily capture the victory.
The Lady Jets had four started in double figures in their win over the Southern Union ladies. Returning sophomore guard La’Deja James was the top scorer for the Lady Jets with 19 points, five steals, five assists, and four rebounds. Camille Coleman, another sophomore added 14 points and Desiree Corbin, a sophomore transfer from Darton College, had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Freshman point guard Kanna Suzuki from Japan also had a double-double game with 10 points and 11 assists.
The Lady Jets are now 7 – 0 on the season. Both teams will be in action this weekend in the Jets and Lady Jets Thanksgiving Classic tournaments in the Hangar.
