SGTC Business Programs advisory committee meets at Crisp County Center
South Georgia Technical College’s Accounting, Business Technology, and Marketing Management advisory committee recently held an advisory meeting on SGTC’s Crisp County Center campus in the boardroom.
Members of SGTC’s Accounting, Business Technology, and Marketing Management advisory committee met with Accounting instructor Sara Benson, Business Technology instructor Teresa Jolly, and Marketing Management instructor Karen Bloodworth. The members reviewed all aspects of the program to keep the program abreast of trends and changes in the accounting and business administrative technology industries.
The purpose of the advisory committee meetings is to provide expert support for the program the committee represents. The meetings promote interaction between the program and business and industries served by the program. The faculty uses the expertise of the advisory committee to improve content and operation of the program.
As committee members, individuals may serve as guest speakers in class, help arrange field trips for the program, assist with recruitment, provide on-the-job training for students, provide assistance with job placement for the students, as well as provide other services as the committee sees fit.
Members of the committee present at the advisory meeting were Mark Lewis of the Georgia Department of Labor; Tracy Stewart of Ameris Bank; Arthur Ben Morris of Plantersfirst; and Becky Fitzgibbons of Crisp County Power Commission. SGTC student D.W. Persall of Cordele spoke to the committee regarding his placing 4th place win in the Phi Beta Lambda National Competition held in Atlanta, Georgia in June 2016. He competed in the Administrative Technology event. SGTC Dean of Enrollment Management Julie Partain was also present at the meeting.
