SGTC Crisp County Center Business and Computer programs advisory committee meets
The South Georgia Technical College Business Technology, Marketing Management, and Accounting advisory committee for the college’s Crisp County Center Campus met recently in the boardroom of the LaPorte auditorium.
The purpose of the advisory committee is to assist South Georgia Technical College faculty and staff in continuous quality improvement of the Business Technology, Accounting, and Marketing Management programs at SGTC. SGTC Business Technology instructor Teresa Jolly, Marketing Management instructor Karen Bloodworth, and Accounting instructor Sara Benson provided the committee with updates and information about program changes, enrollment, community activities, and student news.
The advisory committee members provide information to SGTC faculty and staff about suggested improvements in curriculum, new training opportunities that are available in the field of business, accounting, and marketing; new technology, employment/internship opportunities available for students, and salary levels students may anticipate upon graduation.
Members present at the advisory meeting were Shearer Turton of Turton Investments, David Wade of City of Cordele, Mark Lewis of the Georgia Department of Labor, Arthur Ben Morris of Planters First, and Becky Fitzgibbons of the Crisp County Power Commission.
The advisory committee is a crucial link that provides an avenue for South Georgia Tech instructors to learn about changing conditions or technology in the workplace that can then be passed along to students that will enable them to be fully prepared upon graduation.
