South Georgia Technical College participated in the Sumter County High School College and Career Expo in an effort to educate students about a variety of careers, professions, jobs, and postsecondary opportunities that SGTC and the Sumter County area has to offer.

South Georgia Tech utilized its mobile stem trailer to allow students to virtually envision some of the career and educational opportunities available.  The mobile stem trailer allowed students to learn more about Heavy Equipment Operation, Auto Collision and Repair painting techniques, drones, 3-D printing, Precision Machining and Manufacturing and more.

SGTC Academic Dean Dr. David Finley is shown above working with a student in the SGTC Mobil Stem Lab.

In addition to the mobile stem lab, SGTC also had its commercial truck driving truck and trailer and a number of SGTC instructors and administrators that participated in the event.

SGTC’s High School Coordinator Brittny Wright-McGrady and Academic Dean Dr. David Finley as well as Instructors Brandon Dean from the Automotive Technology program, Kevin Beaver from High Performance Engines – Motorsports, Mike Collins from Electronics Technology, Chad Brown from Precision Machining and Manufacturing, Patrick Owen from Industrial Systems and Industrial Electrical, CAT Heavy Equipment Dealer Service Technology instructors Don Rountree and Rance Pross and CAT Dealer representative Jeff Cornwall, Aircraft Structural instructor Jason Wisham, SGTC Cosmetology instructor Dorothea McKenzie and her students, and SGTC Economic Director of the Americus campus Paul Farr talked with students about the Electrical Lineworker program.

The instructors and SGTC administrators were on hand to provide demonstrations, a short overview of their programs and career opportunities, as well as answer any questions from students and staff.

South Georgia Technical College is proud to partner with the Sumter County Schools through dual enrollment and other opportunities.
