SGTC PBL to compete in district competitions

South Georgia Technical College students from both the Americus campus Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) chapter and the Crisp County Center chapter will compete in the upcoming Phi Beta Lambda District Competition hosted at Central Georgia Technical College in Macon. The competitors and their events include Nykeria Marshall of Americus, Culinary Arts student, Organizational Behavior and Leadership and Hospitality Management; Ashley N. Halstead of Ellaville, Cosmetology student, Microeconomics and Business Law; Racarda Blackmon of Americus, Computer Information Systems student, Helpdesk and Emerging Business Issues with Kia Mable; Fierra Riley of Americus, Marketing Management student, Information Management and Retail Management; Kia Mable of Americus, Early Childhood Education student, Future Business Educator and Emerging Business Issues (with Racarda Blackmon); Jarrius Cladd of Americus, Marketing Management student, Retail Management and Entrepreneur Concepts; Alicia R. English of Americus, Business Technology student, Management Analysis Decision Making and Desktop Publish; Shannon Stewart of Americus, Business Technology student, Project Management and Desktop Publishing; Karen Shell of Americus, Criminal Justice Technology student, Job Interview and Public Speaking; Branyon Kendrick of Americus, Marketing Management student, Human Resource Management and Marketing Analysis and Decision Making; Andrea Burton Willis of Americus, Barbering student, Business Decision-Making and Organizational Behavior and Leadership; Alexandra Joiner of Cordele, Marketing Management student, Public Speaking; Christopher McGee of Cordele, Marketing Management student, Sales Presentation and Impromptu Speaking; Dravian McGill of Cordele, Criminal Justice Technology student, Justice Administration; Tonekita Rogers of Cordele, Business Technology student, Word Processing and Information Management;  Jordan Smith of Cordele, Marketing Management student, Marketing Concepts and Retail Management; and Ramona Williams of Cordele, Criminal Justice Technology student, Justice Administration. Top winners from each category will advance to state competitions later this spring. Advisors for the Americus Campus PBL chapter include Andrea Oates and Donna Lawrence. Teresa Jolly and Karen Bloodworth are the advisors for the Crisp County Center campus chapter. Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) are the largest business career student organizations in the world. The FBLA high school division has 215,000 members while the post-secondary division reaches over 11,000 college students. Phi Beta Lambda allows students to build a portfolio of documented accomplishments as a complement to their academic experience. The organization helps develop leadership, communication, and team skills that can be applied in the business setting.
