South Georgia Technical College will be hosting its annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Thursday, October 26 at 11 a.m. outside of the Odom Center on the Americus campus. Gloria F. Wynds, breast cancer survivor, will provide a brief talk about her story before the walk.
All SGTC faculty, staff and students are urged to meet at the flag poles outside of the Odom Center and do a short walk around campus. The walk will end up at the Charles Lindberg First Flight Market in front of the Odom Center. The SGTC Student Affairs Department will also provide cupcakes and refreshments in the Odom Center for all participants.
In the event of rain, the event will be held in the Hicks Hall Student Center.
The SGTC Student Affairs department is sponsoring the Breast Cancer Awareness event to celebrate and honor those who have or have had breast cancer. SGTC also has a window of fame for individuals to recognize loved ones and friends who have suffered and died from cancer or who have overcome the disease.
SGTC faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to wear pink to show support for breast cancer awareness.
