South Georgia Tech surpasses 5000 Facebook followers
South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently reached a social media milestone, surpassing 5,000 followers (or page “likes”) in the first few days of 2017. The college’s Facebook account amassed this amount of followers steadily since the page was officially live in summer of 2011. “At South Georgia Technical College, students are the most important part of what we do, and social media is one of our most effective ways of communicating with our students,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford.
The South Georgia Tech Facebook page is a resource for current students, potential students, and alumni, as well as SGTC faculty and staff, and other members of the community. It provides photos and links to the latest news from South Georgia Tech’s Americus and Crisp County Center campuses, information about special events, stories about student achievement and success, registration and orientation information, important dates and information for students, and more.
South Georgia Tech’s social media presence also extends to Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, with follower counts steadily growing for each outlet. SGTC’s handle for all social media is @southgatech.
Links to all SGTC social media accounts can be found on the SGTC website at www.southgatech.edu under the Facebook News Feed widget, making it easy to follow multiple SGTC social media accounts at once.
In addition, SGTC’s Facebook page functions as a resource for current students who have questions about setting up their student email accounts, finding out when they are supposed to register for classes, when to apply for graduation, and more. SGTC’s Facebook messaging system has a 100% response rate, which many current and potential students utilize for finding out information quickly.
