Annie Streeter of Americus, a South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) Accounting student, was named SGTC Student of Excellence during the college’s recent student recognition ceremony held in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on SGTC’s Americus campus. Streeter received a plaque of recognition and a financial award from SGTC for her accomplishments. She was nominated for this honor by SGTC Accounting instructor Brenda Boone. “Annie Streeter is involved in a lot of things, and she strives to do her very best at everything,” said Boone. “She’s an assertive and effective leader.” “I took my opportunity to come to South Georgia Tech very seriously,” said Streeter, who serves as the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) Secretary, the President of SkillsUSA, and the Accounting representative for the Student Government Association (SGA). Each month, students from certain divisions selected for that month are nominated for the Student of Excellence award by their instructors. This month’s ceremony recognized students in business and computer programs at SGTC. The winner is selected based on a number of criteria, including grades, work ethics, participation in clubs and organizations, and amount of program completion. Each nominee is presented with a certificate and a South Georgia Technical College Student of Excellence T-shirt. Other nominees included Alicia English of Americus, Business Technology; David Justin Moore of Butler, Computer Information Systems; Leah Windham of Oglethorpe, Marketing Management; and Derrick Trawick of Macon, Recreation and Leisure Management. Additional nominating instructors included Annita Barron, Business Technology; Andrea Ingram, Computer Information Systems; Mary Cross, Marketing Management; and Travis Garrett, Recreation and Leisure Management.
