
Sherri Cartwright of Shellman and Madeline Mock Roberts of Plains have joined South Georgia Technical College as Associate of Science in Nursing Instructors, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford. Both instructors will report to SGTC Vice President of Academic Affairs Julie Partain and will be housed on the Americus campus.
South Georgia Technical has plans to implement an LPN to RN Bridge program in Fall 2025. Cartwright and Roberts will be responsible for fulfilling both teaching and non-teaching activities as part of this new program. They will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/occupational courses to achieve program goals and objectives that adhere to state and institutional standards as well as accrediting agency requirements. They will also evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives prescribed in curriculum. Assistance with enrollment, retention and job placement efforts for the LPN to RN Bridge progra as well as other duties as assigned will be included with their responsibilities.

Cartwright has worked at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for the past four years as the Clinical Educator and House Supervisor and PRN staff link. She has experience in case management, outpatient surgery, PACU and Pre-admission testing/screening, Covid testing and infusions. She was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Andrew College as well as the Nursing Lab Coordinator. Other experience included serving as the Director of Nursing at Southwest Georgia Regional Medical Center and Nurse Management and Staff Nurse at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Cartwright earned an Associates Degree in Nursing from Darton College, a Bachelors of Nursing Degree with honors from Chamberlain College of Nursing and graduated with Distinction with a Masters of Nursing Degree from Chamberlain University.
She has a grown son, Cory Cartwright of Buford, GA.
Madeline Roberts is a Masters of Nursing/Certified Nurse Midwife graduate from Frontier Nursing University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Columbus State University and her Associate of Nursing degree from Darton State College/Albany State University. She also attended Georgia Southwestern State University for her core.
She was previously employed at Care Connect Health in Americus as a Certified Nurse Midwife with oversight of Management of labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum patients at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. She aided in the birth process from beginning to end and managed high-risk obstetrical patients in the clinic and hospital setting. She still provides this care PRN. Before she achieved her master’s Degree, she also worked in Labor and Delivery in a hospital setting assisting patients in the inpatient, outpatient, observation, and triage setting with antepartum and intrapartum care as a Registered Nurse for six years.
Roberts served as the House Management/Supervisor at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center for one year where she dealt with management of staffing, clinical issues, patient care, as well as Medical/Surgical, Labor and Delivery and other areas of the hospital. She is also a certified preceptor in the clinical setting and aided in training new nurses employees on procedures.
Roberts and her husband, Joe, have four children; Elly: 11, Tinley: 10, Logan: 5, and Griffin 2.
