Magnolia Manor Senior Living is partnering with South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) to provide easy access to additional educational opportunities for its employees. SGTC officials visited Magnolia Manor in Americus to talk with employees about admissions procedures, financial aid, academic resources, academic programs available, and more.
The partnership is designed to provide tuition assistance, priority admissions acceptance, application fee waivers, access to tutoring and workshops as well as flexible work schedules for Magnolia Manor employees taking classes. SGTC offers over 200 associate degree, diploma, and technical certificate of credit educational opportunities.
“We are honored to partner with Magnolia Manor Senior Living,” said SGTC President Dr. John Watford. “Our mission is workforce development through education and training. By working together, South Georgia Tech and Magnolia Manor are creating educational opportunities for individuals currently working at Magnolia Manor who would like to improve their skills and advance their careers.
“This is a win-win-win situation for South Georgia Tech, Magnolia Manor, and their employees. South Georgia Tech is fulfilling its mission of educating the workforce, Magnolia Manor is assisting its workforce in gaining new or improving current skills and their employees can acquire skills and credentials with assistance from Magnolia Manor. This partnership is a tremendous opportunity for individuals looking to move from a certified nursing assistant to a licensed practical nurse or from an LPN to a registered nurse. It will also benefit individuals in the business offices and plant maintenance,” continued Dr. Watford.
“We are thrilled to partner with South Georgia Technical College to further workforce development in our local community,” said Hill Fort, President and CEO of Magnolia Manor Senior Living. “Highly trained, skilled healthcare workers are always in demand; this collaboration will provide our staff the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally and advance their healthcare career at Magnolia Manor. Partnering with South Georgia Tech is a logical step in growing both our own workforce and the workforce local area. By working with South Georgia Tech, we are encouraging and enabling our most valuable resource, our staff, to become the best that they can be.”
Diane Harrison, Magnolia Manor Senior Vice President of Human Resources joined with South Georgia Technical College Academic Dean Brett Murray, Admissions Director Candie Walters, and Financial Aid Director Kelly Everett to set up an on-site recruiting session at the Magnolia Manor Nursing Center during employee shift change to talk with employees about the partnership and how it could benefit employees looking to advance their skills and careers.
“I am encouraged by the level of participation at the event brought to us by South Georgia Tech,” said Diane Harrison, Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Magnolia Manor Senior Living. “It’s exciting to imagine the future of our staff advancing through education and how that applies to the care they provide our residents. This program supports our Career Pathway program and provides endless opportunities for Magnolia Manor employees.”
SGTC will be offering an eight-week mini semester beginning October 14 for individuals interested in starting core or program specific classes and then will work with other individuals to get ready for practical nursing and registered nurses classes beginning Spring Semester on January 7, 2026.
