The South Georgia Technical College Electronics Advisory Committee recently convened in the John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center on the Americus campus to discuss program updates and current trends in the electronics industry.
Advisory committees play a key role in supporting continuous improvement at SGTC. Electronics instructor Mike Collins provided members with updates on curriculum changes, enrollment, community engagement, and student achievements.
Committee members offered valuable insight on curriculum enhancements, emerging technologies, industry training opportunities, and employment prospects for graduates—including expected salary ranges. Their input helps SGTC align its electronics program with workforce needs and better prepare students for successful careers.
Participants included Derrick Hill of International Paper; Michael Jaskulski and Chet Ragsdale of Imerys; and Johnny Villanueva of Flint River Irrigation. SGTC representatives in attendance were Academic Dean Dr. David Finley, WIOA Coordinator Sandhya Muljibhai, and Alecia Pinckney, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
The committee serves as a vital connection between the college and industry, ensuring that SGTC graduates enter the workforce with relevant, up-to-date skills.
