Austin Smith joins SGTC as Maintenance Technician.

   Austin James Smith of Americus has joined South Georgia Technical College as a Maintenance Technician on the Americus campus, announced SGTC President Dr. John Watford.  He will report to SGTC Maintenance Director Jeff Moore and Vice President of Operations Karen Werling.

   Smith is a graduate of Webster County High School and has been working as an independent contractor for over two years.  He has experience in comprehensive residential and commercial services specializing in interior/exterior painting, light electrical, plumbing, and general home repairs.

   He has also managed all aspects of client projects from initial consultation and accurate estimating to project execution, quality control, and final client satisfaction.

   As a Maintenance Technician at SGTC, Smith will be responsible for installing, maintaining or repairing electrical systems and associated hardware as well as HVAC equipment, plumbing hardware and assisting with renovation projects as assigned.  He will also assist with carpentry projects, participate in the repair and maintenance of college equipment and vehicles and grounds maintenance activities.

   Smith begins his duties on the Americus campus, September 2, 2025.
