South Georgia Technical College’s Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) coordinator, Josh Curtin, Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs, has announced the members of the internal screening committee for the college’s prestigious GOAL honor. This committee plays a vital role in identifying and advancing top student nominees who exemplify the values of technical education.
The internal screening committee will conduct interviews in November with nominated students to select four finalists who will represent SGTC in the regional GOAL competition. Committee members include: Jennifer Gilmore, Financial Aid Technician; Calvin Hodge Jr., Campus Police Chief; Sandhya Muljibhai, Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Coordinator; Tylen Pepito, Admissions Counselor-Recruiter; Jennifer Robinson, Special Populations Coordinator; and Suzanne Singletary, Human Resources Director.
To be eligible for the GOAL program, students must be nominated by one of their instructors. The screening committee then evaluates these nominees based on academic performance, attendance, character, leadership potential, personal goals, and enthusiasm for technical education.
The four selected finalists will move forward to the next phase, where they will be interviewed by a selection committee composed of local business and industry leaders. That committee will choose one overall winner to represent South Georgia Technical College in regional competition against other colleges in the Southern region.
The SGTC GOAL winner will also advance to the Technical College System of Georgia’s annual statewide GOAL conference, where regional finalists from across the state compete for the title of Georgia’s 2026 Student of the Year. The statewide winner will receive a brand-new automobile, generously provided by KIA Motors, the program’s corporate sponsor.
Finalists will be announced soon, and the college looks forward to spotlighting the exceptional students who represent the spirit of GOAL and the value of technical education.
