The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program advisory committee at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently met on the Americus campus to review the state of the program and trends in the early childhood education field. The committee plays an important role in supporting ongoing quality improvement and ensuring the ECCE program aligns with industry standards.
SGTC early childhood instructors Jaye Cripe (Americus campus) and Cambrette Hudson (Crisp County Center) led the meeting, providing updates on curriculum changes, enrollment trends, community outreach efforts, and student accomplishments.
Committee members offered input on potential curriculum enhancements, the integration of new technologies and teaching methods, job and internship opportunities for students, and salary expectations for program graduates.
Participants included Monica Warren, Director of Early Learning for Crisp County Schools; Brandi Roland, Counselor at Sumter Primary School; and Sarah Dice, Center Director at Sumter County Head Start and Early Head Start. Also representing SGTC were Alecia Pinckney, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President for Academic Affairs; Katrice Martin, Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator; and Brett Murray, Academic Dean.
Advisory committees serve as a vital connection between SGTC and industry professionals, helping instructors stay informed about evolving workplace needs. Their feedback ensures students are equipped with relevant, up-to-date skills that lead to success after graduation.
