South Georgia Technical College’s Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program recently held its advisory committee meeting on the Americus campus to evaluate the program’s progress and discuss developments in the field of early childhood education. The advisory committee plays a vital role in helping SGTC faculty and staff continuously improve the program to meet industry needs and ensure student readiness.
ECCE instructors Jaye Cripe (Americus campus) and Cambrette Hudson (Cordele campus) led the meeting, sharing updates on curriculum changes, enrollment trends, student involvement in the community, and other program highlights.
Advisory committee members offered valuable insight on emerging instructional methods, technology updates, and employment and internship opportunities for ECCE students. The group also discussed realistic salary expectations for graduates entering the workforce.
Those attending the meeting included Brandi Roland, School Counselor for Sumter County; Verneda Johnson, District Parent Coordinator for Macon County; Dr. David Finley, SGTC Academic Dean; Katrice Martin, Grant Coordinator/Director of Institutional Effectiveness; Michelle McGowan, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs; and Sandhya Muljibhai, WIOA Coordinator.
Advisory committees such as this one serve as an essential bridge between the classroom and the workplace, helping instructors stay current on industry trends and better prepare students for successful careers after graduation.
