The Electrical Lineworker program advisory committee at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently met in the John M.   During the meeting, committee members spoke with SGTC Academic Deans Brett Murray and Katrice Martin, and Economic Development Assistant Tami Blount. Topics of discussion included program admission requirements, course content and duration, skills field content, student learning outcomes, the importance of good work ethics, and a review of industry-specific equipment and objectives.

Attendees included instructors Harold Ergle, Jimmy Denham and Sidney Johnson as well as industry representatives Chelsea Payne and Nick Pandolfi of Flint Energies; Keith Nichols, and Jason McInvale of Georgia Power; Whitney Johnson of Sumter Electric; and and David Mathis and Ronne Dodson of UTEC.

The advisory committee plays a critical role in helping SGTC ensure its programs remain current and effective in meeting the needs of employers in the college’s seven-county service area and beyond. By serving as a direct link between the college and the workforce, the committee provides valuable insight into evolving industry trends and expectations.
