SGTC General Education Advisory Committee Meets

The General Education advisory committee at South Georgia Technical College recently met on the Americus campus to review and discuss various aspects of the college’s general education curriculum. The meeting focused on ensuring that courses continue to meet academic standards while supporting student success and workforce readiness.

Committee members in attendance included Alicia Green, Alleyah Sims, and Reagen Beamon, counselors at Sumter County High School, and Cindy Hagerson, counselor at Schley County High School.

Representing SGTC were English Instructor Jon Stravelakis; Career Services Director Cynthia Carter; Heavy Equipment Service Technology Instructor Don Roundtree; Psychology Instructor Dr. Michele Seay; Math Instructor Chester Taylor; English Instructor Jasmine Day-Duncan; Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Melissa Hollis; High School Initiative Specialist Mykaula Harvey; Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Grants Coordinator Katrice Martin; High School Coordinator Brittny Wright-McGrady; Automotive Technology Instructor Brandon Dean; Mathematics Instructor Rose Leggett; Biology Instructor Matthew Cowan; and Retention and Coaching Specialist and Testing Coordinator Charlene Dupree.

Advisory committees play an important role in connecting the college with educational and workforce partners, providing valuable feedback that helps instructors stay informed about evolving expectations and better prepare students for success after graduation.
