SGTC Holds FOCUS 2 Workshop for Crisp Campus Students

South Georgia Technical College’s Office of Career Services welcomed fall semester students at the Crisp County Campus with an introduction to FOCUS 2, a comprehensive career and education planning system designed to help students align their academic choices with career goals.

Career Services Director Cynthia Carter addressed students during orientation and registration, encouraging them to work hard, stay focused, and embrace the challenges and opportunities of a new semester. “Make this fall semester your best one yet,” she said.

The primary objective of the event was to boost usage of FOCUS 2, which allows students to explore career options that match their personal attributes and academic programs. The platform includes self-assessments and occupation profiles and serves as a valuable tool for students navigating future career decisions. Instructors were also introduced to ways FOCUS 2 can be integrated into their coursework.

Carter met with nine program instructors to discuss the system and its implementation, while a live classroom demonstration was held for Tom Mayo’s welding class. All 18 students in attendance created FOCUS 2 accounts during the session.

Career Services plans to continue engagement efforts across both campuses and is encouraging instructors to get all students registered. A usage report will be generated by the end of the month to track progress.

Tammy Hamilton helped initiate the campaign by engaging faculty participation, while Teresa Jolly supported the outreach by posting a “Welcome to FOCUS 2 Career” announcement across all SGTC Blackboard courses.
