SGTC Maintenance cleans up Hwy 49 roundabout

The Georgia Highway 49 roundabout at the entrance of Americus and South Georgia Technical College Parkway had become overgrown and was not presenting a very pleasing appearance to the entrance of South Georgia Tech or to the City of Americus.

The Georgia Highway Department of Transportation is responsible for maintaining the roundabout area, but it had been several weeks since the grass had been mowed or the bushes trimmed.  The overgrowth was quickly becoming a traffic hazard and an eyesore to people entering the roundabout area.  And with the start of the new school year, traffic through the roundabout and the South Georgia Technical College Parkway was increasing.

SGTC President Dr. John Watford asked the South Georgia Technical College Maintenance Department to spend some time on that area and make it more presentable to the individuals traveling to and from Americus and those coming to South Georgia Technical College and Sumter County High School.

A few hours later and the grass was mowed and the bushes were trimmed so that individual traveling down Highway 49 and entering the roundabout had unobstructed vision through the roundabout area.  Thank you SGTC Maintenance for taking time out of your busy schedules to make this area look better.
