For Ashley Lambert, South Georgia Technical College isn’t just an alma mater—it’s part of the family. A 2006 graduate of the Business and Office Technology program, Lambert’s story with SGTC began while she was still a student at Schley County High School and now continues with the next generation.
“I graduated high school in 2003, got married that October, and life started quickly,” said Lambert. “I was already taking SGTC classes while in high school. When some of our teachers were called to military service, SGTC stepped in, sending one of their instructors to teach us. That support stayed with me.”
At SGTC, Lambert thrived. She served as Secretary for Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), competed in events, and was nominated for Student of the Month by her instructor, Brenda Boone. In 2005, she gave birth to her first daughter, Paige—now an SGTC student herself in the Business Technology program.
“The faculty were incredibly supportive,” Lambert said. “When I called to say I’d miss class because I’d just had my baby at 3:51 that morning, they didn’t just congratulate me—they helped me stay on track.”
That spirit of encouragement helped her complete her program and graduate in 2006. Lambert went on to work for companies like PSMC and Flint River, using the skills gained at SGTC. Today, she serves as an Administrative Assistant and Community Supervision Coordinator with the Georgia Department of Community Supervision in Americus, where she’s worked for over six years.
The Lambert family legacy at SGTC doesn’t stop with Ashley. Her husband, Harley, earned his CDL through the college and now works as a logistics manager. Her older sister, Michelle, completed the Licensed Practical Nursing program, and her younger sister, Christi, is a Criminal Justice graduate now employed with the Georgia State Patrol.
“SGTC is embedded in our story,” said Lambert. “From my own path to now watching my daughter walk hers, we’re proud of our roots. It all started here.”
The Lamberts live in Ellaville, where they’re raising their three children: Paige (20), Harley Jr. (7), and Autumn (13), a budding musician in the school band. Looking back, Lambert says she’s grateful for the support she received at South Georgia Tech—and excited to see where it takes her family next.
