The Allied Health Advisory Committee at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) recently met on the Cordele campus to review the latest developments in the college’s healthcare programs and discuss current trends shaping the medical field.
Instructors Jennifer Childs (LPN), Carol Cowan (Medical Assisting), Deborah Fultz (CNA/Clinical), and Janice Wiseman (CNA) provided committee members with updates on curriculum revisions, enrollment growth, community outreach, and student accomplishments.
The committee plays a key role in helping SGTC stay aligned with workforce needs. Members offered valuable input on instructional strategies, emerging healthcare technologies, and employment outlooks for graduates—including salary expectations and internship opportunities. Their feedback helps ensure that SGTC students are well-prepared for today’s evolving healthcare environment.
Attendees included David Edwards and Bryan Barnes of Crisp County EMS and Vickie Teemer, Vice President of Human Resources at Crisp Regional Hospital. SGTC administrators Julie Partain, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and Michelle McGowan, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, were also present.
Advisory committees like this one are essential to SGTC’s mission, creating strong connections between the classroom and the healthcare workforce and helping students gain relevant, up-to-date skills that lead to career success.
